The Night Before Christmas…

Here’s a fun little festive tip from one of my own family traditions…on Christmas Eve each year, the entire family spring into action to hunt for my father’s favourite copy of The Night Before Christmas. It’s a task made slightly trickier each year by Dad’s firm belief in putting it back “somewhere safe so we don’t lose it again next year”
When we finally recover the book we all sit down and listen to Dad read it - we’ve done the same thing every year for as long as I can remember, and Dad now really enjoys reading it to the grandchildren before they put the port and mince pies out for Father Christmas. Strangely enough, since my siblings and I grew up, Father Christmas has got a bit more demanding and my niece and nephews have to put out lots of mince pies now, and several glasses of port - for the reindeer who don’t like carrots!
It’s a really nice start to Christmas, and I think it’s a nice way of getting all the generations together for a few minutes!
