I was a big leap of faith. One of those ‘if we don’t do it now will we always regret it’ moments that come along every once in a while. Well we did it and our first range of organic cotton baby clothes that would fit over a cloth nappy was launched in the summer of 2004.

We had one computer, in our spare room,  a dial-up internet connection and a dream.

Now we have twenty one computers, in a purpose built unit, 2 broadband lines…and a dream.

Our dream is for Frugi to be the most desirable and trusted organic cotton clothing brand on the planet.

Frugi clothes are always design lead. It is all very well to have the softest and strongest organic cotton in the world, but if the design is wrong then all ethics and environmentally friendliness in the world will not help. The clothes have to look great too.

We now do clothes for newborn, baby, kids and mother. Our ‘mother’ range is designed to help breastfeeding mums feed their babies discreetly, but in style. Our Baby range is sill cut that bit bigger for cloth nappies and our kids range now goes up yo 8 years old.

We now have a consumer website and a wholesale website and a great facebook page.

Well, I have bought several of these tops in the last year for my baby daughter and this one does not disappoint! 

Great colours and a perfect addition to the wardrobe for this winter as it has full length sleeves and can comfortably be worn with an equally lovely Frugi vest with room to spare for a cardi over the top. 

I think my 11 month old looks great in this and the concensus from those who have seen her in it is that they think the same too!

When I first saw this Fancy Spot Top I kind of thought ‘oh another spotty top’ however when it’s worn by my 4 year old it really looks so much nicer than other t-shirts.  I think this is down to the very lovely scalloped edging which gives it a very girly touch (to my four year old you can’t have too many girlie touches, whereas I think you can and this strikes a very good balance!)

Now we’ve had a few sunnier days it has been worn with many items from denim dungarees to pink skirts and goes really well with all of them.

The “bong tree” is very stylish and quite sophisticated, certainly not too babyish for an older child, but at the same time pretty enough to please those children still insisting on “girly” looking clothes. The tree design is applique and embroidery, not printed on, which means less wear or fading in the wash. There is a lovely pattern of embroidered silvery leaves that makes a very classy alternative to more commonplace sparkles. Matching neck and wrist lines in a patterned paler pink also add to the “prettiness” factor and mean that this top would be an easy match with many other pieces in the Frugi winter collection. “The Owl and the Pussycat” has always been a special poem in our house as I often recite it to my children at bedtime. We never knew what a bong tree might look like and this top provides us with a lovely, magical image that evokes the poem beautifully.

Sizing is generous, quality is excellent and my daughter and I both love it. A very special top.
